“The River, The Ocean, The Sea” is a photographic exploration of the presence and the impact that specific water sources have on the environments of three photographers. Nick Tauro Jr. documented the Rio Grande bosque in and around his home city of Albuquerque, NM. Fábio Miguel Roque focused on the Atlantic Ocean coast near his home of Sintra, Portugal. Hean Kuan Ong, based in Penang, Malaysia, explored the coastal environs of the southern Adaman Sea. Each photographer traversed the area immediately adjacent to the water. Each found signs of human life, along with a rich natural environment and often, evidence of the struggle between the two. The three photographers present the viewer with a juxtaposition between their very different home environs, yet at the same time allowing the viewer to see the many commonalities that exist across each photographer’s vision, and by extension, each specific location.
